Level six - Frozen In Time: To the Starship

HUGE CAVE WITH A LAKE: Follow the underground tunnel to a cave with a lake and a central building. Dive in the water and swim to the left then to the right and under the bridge (north-east). Continue swimming forward (don't turn right at the intersection) to a small flooded cave. Swim to the left around the corner and follow the tunnel to another flooded room with an underwater door to the right. Open it and return for air if necessary. Swim through the door to the right, and follow the tunnel to a big room where you can surface and pull out of the water. Enter the room to the right (east) and take Teleport Room Disk from the pedestal. Return through the underwater passage to the big cave.

Swim forward and to the left into the opposite (south-east) corner. Climb out of the water and enter the building. Use the disk in the reader between two radars and leave the room. When you exit, go to the left along the wall and then turn right after the big support column to the right. Take LMP from the ground. Return to the building but don't come in. Return to the other side of the lake along the eastern wall. Turn right around the corner and go up the stairs into the Teleporter room. Enter and step onto the teleporter.

ROOM WITH FROZEN TOXIC POOL: Step out of the teleporter and enter the next room with intersection. First go to the left, on the balcony overlooking the big lake and take another LMP. Return to the room with intersection and enter a big room with frozen toxic pool straight ahead (east). You can walk safely on the surface of the pool as long as it is frozen. Go to the other side of the room, enter either of two passages, turn around the corner and climb the ladder at the back side. You'll see two switches, to the left and to the right. Jump to flip the first switch, climb the ladder again and jump to flip the second one, to open two doors down at the frozen toxic pool. Return to the big room.

Enter the doorway to the left (north), follow the passage to a room with floor mirror (cool!) and up the ramp. Turn left, climb the higher block and stand in front of another block which is slanted on the other side. Side step all the way to the left, draw your guns and jump in place while shooting, to break two shiny orbs hanging from the ceiling above the pool. You have to shoot down both of them. When you do, holster your weapon, climb onto the slanted block ahead and slide into the big room. Go through the other doorway (south), repeat the same to break the other two orbs, but this time don't slide down the slanted block but instead, return to the mirror room and go left, into now open doorway where you can take the first Bridge Fuse. Go back to the big room and keep going to the left and through the doorway, to the room with the intersection. Once inside, go to the right, run off the middle of the ledge and swim back to the big cave.

SECOND BRIDGE FUSE: Swim or go on foot into the north-west corner of the cave. Look up to find a crack on the wall and jump up to grab it. Shimmy to the left until you can pull up into a high crawlspace. At the end of the tunnel turn left, draw your guns and jump up to shoot the grating. Pull up into this opening, crawl through, shoot another grating at the end and drop into a room below. Enter the room with yellow life-support chambers and take another Bridge Fuse from the pedestal to the left. Return via the crawlspace to the big cave.

Go to the opposite (north-east) corner of the cave and enter the building there. In the room with radars you'll see a big green screen of the broken bridge straight ahead. Use two bridge fuses in the receptacles to the left and right to repair the bridge. Return to the cave and cross the bridge to enter the main tower.

THE TOWER: Take a diagonal running jump onto a platform to the left. Once again, take a running jump to land on the platform with a ladder. Climb up, crawl in and go to the right. Stand up in front of the button, press it and save your game.

After pressing the button, turn around and walk to the edge. Take a look at the situation ahead: you have to jump from one switching platform to another, until you reach the opening in the wall where you can save (and this is just a first half). There's no easier or harder way to do this, there's only one way, and you better relax your fingers completely before even trying to beat this challenge. The platforms are switching really fast, and you have to time your jumps at a millisecond, literally. All right, let us begin.

Stand with your back against the wall with the button. Use the Look button to watch the cycle of switching the platforms. The first and the third platforms appear when the ball on the rail on the opposite wall slides to the left, while the second and the fourth platforms appear when the ball slides to the right. Take a standing jump onto the first platform when it is about to appear. Run and steer to the right and jump onto the second platform. Quickly pivot Lara a bit to the right and take a standing jump onto the corner of the third platform. Don't hesitate a moment, run, steer hardly to the right and jump to grab the block on the wall. Climb the higher block to the right, face the room and turn diagonally to the left. Save your game here.

The first and the third switching platforms on the upper level appears when the ball slides to the right, while the second platform appears when the ball slides to the left. Take a diagonal standing jump onto the first platform when it is about to appear, quickly pivot Lara to the right, take a standing jump onto the second platform, take a standing jump onto the third one, run and jump to grab the ledge ahead. Pull up and turn around. There is one more switching platform to go. It appears when the ball on the rail slides to the right. When it is about to appear, take a standing jump to land on it, then run and jump to grab the higher stable ledge and pull up. Turn left (south) and take a running jump into the doorway.

HIGH ABOVE THE LAKE: You are now at the balcony high above the lake where you started. Go to the right on the ledge, to the very end, and stand on the last outer corner of the ledge. Turn diagonally to the right (south-east) and take a running jump to land onto a slanted rock in the corner. Slide backwards and grab its edge. Shimmy all the way to the right, pull up, bounce off, roll in mid-air and grab the walkway behind. Hoist up, walk to the other side, turn diagonally to the right (north-east) and take a running jump to land on the ledge next to the tower. Use a jump switch above to expand one block nearby.

Take a diagonal running jump back onto the walkway, climb a low rock in the corner and jump up to grab the crawlspace above. Pull up and follow the tunnel, slide down the slope to the left, drop in the lower tunnel and follow it to an opening next to some slanted rocks. Walk forward as far as you can, jump straight forward to clear some slanted rock, keep going forward and take a running jump over the gap. Follow the next walkway to the other side, take a running jump with Action to clear another gap, pull up and go forward a bit more. To the left you can see the block you've just expanded, beneath the ladder. Take a running jump to grab it, hoist up and climb the ladder to the top of the tower.

Go to the left towards the pillar, then turn right and go to the another corner pillar. Turn left (south) towards a crack in the wall of the cave and take a running jump to grab it. Shimmy to the left and pull up into the opening. To the left inside a small cave there is a slanted block. Climb it and back flip onto a higher block, turn left (south), take a running jump onto another slanted block, slide a bit and jump to grab another flat block. Pull up and climb into the opening above. Turn around, jump up and grab the opening above. Follow the tunnel to an intersection, crouch and crawl to the left, and emerge in the room where you can find Secret #13: second Orb Piece. Safety drop through the opening onto the top of the tower, losing a bit of Lara's health.

Go to the other side of the tower (north), and around the block standing in the middle of this ledge. Approach the slide and press Action to use it (awesome!).

DRESSING ROOM: Go to the right and read the sign on the wall. It means that you cannot enter the room with pedestal to the right of the sign, without getting the protective armor first. Go up the stairs in the corner opposite the sign, in the next room first go straight ahead into the balcony, where you can pick up Raygun explosive ammo, get back into the room and climb the ladder to the right (east). Back flip near the top of the ladder and enter the room with big yellow tile in the middle. Find a movable pillar in the far right corner and push/pull it onto the yellow tile. This will open a door in the same room. Go through and take Protective Body Armor.

Climb down the ladder, return to the room with "Danger" sign, then go left and back to the slide. Enter the doorway to the right (north) and use the Body Armor to open the door to the left. Lara will enter and the door will close behind her. Wait a couple of seconds for her to dress up and return back. Go back into the room with "Danger" sign and enter the room with the pedestal. Take the Key Disk, return to the room with "Danger" sign and use this disk in the reader ahead to open the door around the corner to the right.

TO THE STARSHIP: Follow the cave tunnel to an intersection. Go straight ahead through the doorway, slide and go left into the greenhouse. Find a jump switch behind plants to the right and flip it to open the trapdoor in the nearby room. Return back and drop into the opening. Go to the right, follow the passage and enter the room to the left. Be careful not to fall into the pit, because Lara will fall into the pool with acid. Go around the pit and take Teleport Room Disk from the pedestal. Return to the ladders, climb up, leave the building and go to the right through the tunnel, to another building.

Use the disk in the reader to the left to open the door of the teleporter room. This teleporter is broken and won't take Lara anywhere. Enter the room to the left, turn left again and enter the small room beyond. In an alcove to the right there is a jump switch; use it to open the door outside and leave the teleporter room. Go to the left and enter a big cave with an alien starship.

STARSHIP: In the following flyby you'll see the starship embedded in rock and ice, and the Cai'xia Stone Lara had lost in the plane crash, on top of the starship. Drop to the walkway and turn right. Enter the doorway in the corner (east), follow the corridor to the end, take a SMP and return a bit back to a ladder. Climb up and re-enter the cave, on the upper level. Follow the ledge to the left and take a running jump onto a triangular ledge ahead. Turn to the left, standing on the highest part of the ledge, jump up and grab a crack in the wall. Shimmy all the way to the right around the corner. Drop on the ledge below, follow it to the other end and take a diagonal running jump into the cave opening to the left. Take a running jump across the deep pit, and follow the tunnel to the end. Jump on top of the starship, go forward and take the Cai'xia Stone. Lara will say: "So there you are! What are you exactly?" The door of the starship will open.

Turn your back towards the cave, hop back several times, slide backwards and grab the edge of the starship. Drop to the walkway below losing approximately a third of Lara's health, and enter the ship. Enter the room to the left, combine two Orb pieces in your Inventory and use it in the alcove to the left to open the door to the right. Go in and take Secret #14: Yavi'ny Gharth (whatever it is).

Go out of the ship, follow the walkway to the right, turn to face the cave entrance and take a running jump to grab the ledge in front of the entrance. Pull up and go left (east). In front of the doorway turn left again and follow the ledge to the end around the corner to the right. Turn to the left (north) and jump onto the slanted block ahead. Slide backwards, grab the edge, drop down and slide to the ground.

From where you dropped, hop back, turn diagonally to the right and go towards the rocks in the corner (south-east). Climb up the rocks and go around the pillar. Behind the pillar, high above, there is a grating. The pillar is slanted on this side. Draw your guns, stand against the wall facing it, back flip onto the slanted pillar, bounce off and shoot the grating. Once again back flip onto the pillar, jump and grab the opening. Pull into the crawlspace, shoot the grating at the end of it and drop into a room.

Go left and enter the computer room. To the left of it there is a room with movable contraptions. Push/pull four contraptions to the marked tiles on the floor, but not randomly. Their contacts must be facing inwards, the big central contraption. When you place one contraption correctly, the tile under it will raise a bit and the contraption will start to emit some harmless electricity. When you place all four objects correctly, a door will open elsewhere.

Return to the computer room, leave through the doorway and go straight ahead (west) through the door you've opened. Use the spear in the contraption to raise some slanted platforms above the oil pool outside. However, the door leading there remains closed for now, so return back to the crawlspace and to the cave. Face the cave, go forward a bit, then to the left (south) and up the slopes in the cave opening. You'll end up near the oil pool with those slanted platforms you raised. If you use your disk in the reader to the left, you'll see that the glass door is broken and won't open fully. So prepare for some jumping around...

Turn to the right and take a running jump onto the first platform. Immediately jump again to land on the second. Slide down and jump onto the third one. Slide and jump onto the fourth one, and then onto the ledge. Enter through the doorway and take Yavi'ny Starship Key. Get back to the ledge outside, turn to the right and jump onto the platform next to the wall. Slide and jump with a hard curve to the right onto the second platform which is around the corner. Slide and jump with a curve to the left onto the third platform, slide and jump onto the ledge with the broken door.

Return to the cave with the starship. Go left and enter the teleporter room. The teleporter will send you back to the entrance to the cave with the ship. Leave this room, go left and re-enter the cave with the starship. Take a running jump to grab the walkway in front of the ship and enter it. Use the key to open the gate ahead. Go through. Lara will approach the hologram machine and start the dialogue with an alien being inside the ship.

The alien greets the Earth woman, and she introduces herself, saying that she means no harm. The alien says that he knows that, since she already brought back the Ya'ktar (the Cai'xia stone). Lara asks what it actually is and the being explains that the Ya'ktar is the source of immense power that will enable him to get back to his home planet. He also explains that his ship is not operational, that he and his companions came to Earth many years ago to do a research. But something went wrong, their ship lost power and was stuck and broken and his companions all died of disease and cold. This alien put himself to hyper-sleep hoping that one day someone will bring back the Ya'ktar. The falling of Ya'ktar has awaken him, and he asks Lara to help him fix the ship by finding four recharged Triclon cells inside the ship, so that he can go back home. Lara promises him that she'll help him and tells him to warm himself until she finds what is needed. The level ends after this dialogue.
