Level Two: The Chunnel

ENTRANCE: You begin this level in a small pool. Swim forward, get out of the water, and collect two boxes of shotgun shells and a small medipack from the bushes around the pool. Stand opposite the pillar with ladders and do a diagonal running jump to grab them. Climb to the upper level and pull the lever there to open a gate near the pool. Before going down, back flip over the small fence and shoot the crate to find the Shotgun. Jump into the pool below, climb out of the water and leave through the gate you've just opened, killing two rats in the way.

ROOM WITH ORANGE PILLARS: As soon as you enter the next room, a gunman from above and to the right will start shooting. Don't waste time here. Run to the left to gain some distance so that you can shoot him while flipping left&right. When you kill him, go to the near right corner of the room (north-west). Face the slope and look up and to the left, where you'll see a jump switch mounted onto the pillar. Take a diagonal standing jump over the slope to grab this switch. It will open a trapdoor above the ladders. Go to the far right corner (south-west), jump onto the pile of dirt and kill two workers who emerge in the opposite corner. Jump over the slope and grab the ladder. Climb down into the tunnel.

Kill a rat in the first tunnel. On the left turn draw your guns and kill two guards. One of them will drop a large medipack. Be careful not to fall into a deep pit ahead, or to come too close to the burning barrel. Go to the left side of the pit, passing the burning barrel, drop and hang from the edge and shimmy to the right and around the corner until you can pull up in front of a door. Push a button there to open the door and proceed to the next area.

In the next room kill two gunmen, one to the right, the other one to the left. Collect small and large medipacks from them and a box of flares nearby to the left. Climb down the ladders into the pit with radioactive goo and shoot the grating on the opposite side. Before pressing any switches here, go to the left, collect a small medipack and revolver clips from the floor and to the right, where you'll find another small medipack and some shotgun shells. Now you need to choose which door you will open. If you open the left door, you'll have to deal with two gunmen, two workers and two dogs. If you open the right door, you'll have to deal with one dog, one worker and one gunmen. Opening the middle door triggers only two rats. So I recommend opening the middle door, since all three doors will lead you to the same place and you gain or lose nothing if you choose the easiest or the hardest route.

Go to the left, side or back flip over the low fence and take one small and one large medipack from the floor. Jump back over the fence and approach the fence ahead. Take a diagonal side flip over the fence and the pool with radioactive goo, to land onto a platform on the left. Flip the switch there to open a door elsewhere and jump back over the fence. Go back to the dangling cables and pass them, turning to the right around the corner. Flip the switch there to open a yellow door next to you. You now made a shortcut and now you need to close the first yellow door in order to reveal the opening behind them. So, return to the fence with radioactive pool behind, and flip that switch again. Return back and go through the second yellow door which will remain open. Go left and enter the room with a crate of dirt. Take a yellow fuse from the crate, and watch a door opening in a short cutscene.

Return to the room with dangling cables and go to the opposite side where you'll see an opened gate. Go through and up the ramp to the right. As soon as a boulder begins to roll down at you, run back down the ramp and get out of its way. When it lands at the bottom of the ramp, it is safe to go up the ramp again. At the top you'll find a lever. Pull it to open a door nearby. Go through it to the room with three switches, where you were before. Go right and down into the pool with radioactive goo. Climb the ladder and return to the room with big deep pit. You'll see that a black ledge has been raised above the pit, so now you don't need to shimmy, you can just take a running jump from the ledge to grab the opposite side of the pit. Climb up and go left, where there is a tunnel with the grating you've just opened. Go through and turn right, and you'll emerge in the large room with orange pillars where you started.

Go around the orange pillars and place the fuse in the receptacle on the pillar. A boulder will fall from above, flooding a small tunnel between two blue pillars, and a yellow crate will fall from the gallery above Lara. Push the movable yellow crate to the north-east corner of the room (the floor tile is marked to match the crate), and a crawlspace next to the crate will open. Crawl in, go to a small storage, shoot the box there and take the Blue Fuse.

Return to the big room, jump into a small pool you've just flooded, and use a lever there to lift a cover from the switch above. Get out of the water, jump into an opening between the smaller and bigger pool and use that switch to make another fuse box available. Return back to the corner of the room where you killed the soldier on the balcony earlier. Now be patient. You have to jump onto that balcony where the soldier was. Stand to the right of the balcony, turn towards the orange pillars, back flip onto the slope above, bounce off and make a hard curve to the left while in mid-air. When you finally manage to jump onto the balcony, take the Gold Key from the dead soldier and jump to the floor. Use that key into the keyhole on the pillar to open a trapdoor.

Climb up through the open trapdoor to the gallery above. Take shotgun shells from the floor and place the blue fuse into the box there. The fire on the ledge between two blue pillars will go out. Take a running jump to grab the edge of that ledge, pull up and go to the opposite edge, facing the waterfall. Take another running jump onto the waterfall, but DO NOT press Action here, and keep Forward cursor key pressed while jumping, to prevent Lara from sliding back down the waterfall.

TUNNELS: Enter the tunnel with huge fans. Shoot the grating on the wall here, enter the smaller tunnel, turn left and shoot another grating to get behind the fan. NOTE: Inside this smaller tunnel you'll notice a small key hole on the wall. Remember it, because you'll be back here later. When you find yourself behind the fan, take a look to the right and you'll see a Blue Bulb lying on the floor behind the fence. You'll get it soon. Now open the floor trapdoor and get into another tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, in front of the ladders, jump up with Action to open a trapdoor above you. Climb up and turn left. Shoot the grating on the wall, enter a small tunnel and use a switch here to open a gate outside. Return to the tunnel with fans, go through open gate and enter a tunnel on the right.

In the next room, go right around the corner and take a small medipack on the floor. Use a jump switch here to open a gate leading to a lever. Now go to the opposite side of the room, use the lever to open the yellow door, hop back and go left through the door. Draw your guns and shoot the worker who'll leave another small medipack behind. Enter the washroom.

THE WASHROOM: First go right into the first room and take a box of flares. In the small room in the far left corner you'll find revolver clips. On the wall between far right and far left corner you'll see a darker mirror behind the wash bin. Shoot it to break it, go inside and use the switch to open a door elsewhere. Go into the tunnel you came in from, and follow it to another switch. Flip it to open a gate in the other room. Turn left so the switch you've just flipped is on your right, and jump up to grab a ladder above. Climb up and crawl into an opening with Secret #1: a rocket. Climb down, return to the washroom and use that switch again to close the yellow door. Return to the tunnel and then to the room you were in before. Go forward into a big room with wooden walkway.

ROOM WITH WOODEN WALKWAY: Go right and climb down the ladder to the lower level. Kill two dogs lurking there and move a cage onto the grating on the floor. The grating will open. Go down into the tunnel and into the room with huge pillar with ladders. Climb up the ladder, and then to the right around the corner, where you'll see a black ledge. Take a running jump from that ledge to grab the switch on the opposite wall. This switch is timed, so you better hurry. As soon as you touch the floor, roll and grab the ladders again. Climb up and then left around the corner, onto the timed black ledge above the burning barrel. Quickly climb into the opening above before the ledge lowers and the gate closes. In the room above kill the worker and take his Copper Key. Use the switch here to open the door to the left, and leave the room.

You are back to the room with wooden walkway. Use those ladders again to climb down to the lower level. Use the key you've just found into the keyhole to the left. The gate will open. Enter the room there, go right, draw your guns and shoot the grating. Crawl in, use the switch there to expand a cage next to the lake and return back through the crawlspace. Carefully approach the barrel which will ignite and save your game before you attempt the next jump. First shoot the black panel behind the barrel. Take one or two steps back from the barrel and take a diagonal running jump to the right above the barrel and into the tunnel behind it. Take the Access Key for the Secret. Jump over the burning barrel and go right, into the cave with a lake.

Do not enter the water here, since the dangling electric cables make the water deadly. Instead, jump onto the expanded cage on the left and use the monkey climb above. Climb forward and then to the right, go all the way to the wall, let go and immediately press Action again to grab the switch on the wall. This will turn the electricity off, and the water will be safe now. Swim towards the dead diver and take his Silver Key from the raised bottom of the lake. This can be tricky. The easiest way to get to the key is to walk up to the key from the left.

On the left wall, behind a plant next to the dead diver, there is a small opening. Swim in, follow the tunnel to the surface, get out of the water and take Secret #2: Yellow Bulb. Return to the lake, get out of the water and leave this room. Now you can backtrack to that Blue bulb you saw earlier in the tunnel with fans. The shortest route is to climb the ladder to the upper level of the room with wooden walkway. Go right around the corner, and through the doorway on the left. Turn left in the next room, go between two orange pillars and climb into the opening on the right. Follow the duct to the tunnel with fans. Climb down into the opening and climb up on the other side. Go right into the tunnel and use the Access key in the keyhole to the left. This will open the gate to the left of the keyhole. Go through and take the Secret #3: Blue Bulb. All you need to do now is to get back to the Room with wooden walkway ;)

Climb down the ladder in the room with wooden walkway and use Silver key in another keyhole to open the Cafeteria. Enter the small room and climb onto the block on the left. Shoot the grating on the opposite wall, take a standing jump to grab the monkey climb above and go into the opening. Flip the switch there to open a door on the block. Get back onto the block, get into a crawlspace, shoot the grating at the end of it and climb down into the cafeteria.

THE CAFETERIA: Don't mind the soldiers patrolling behind the glass for now. Go around the glass to the opposite side, press the button on the wall to open the yellow door and proceed to another room. Shoot the grating on the left, go into the tunnel and say your prayers here. In the next room another really merciless timed run awaits you, and I myself twisted my wrists until I managed to finish it successfully.

As you enter this room go right, around the corner and press the button to raise two timed platforms above. You don't have even an extra second, you need to do everything perfectly smoothly. You also won't have time to do hops back before running jumps, you need to jump while running. And whenever you manage to do something perfectly, save your game, but always in new slot, in case you mess something up. Here's what did the trick for me:

As soon as you press the button, do a back flip, then two side flips to the right. Roll, make a back flip onto the slope, bounce off and press Action to grab a ladder above. Climb up (and while Lara is pulling herself up, you can save) onto the block. Run onto the first timed platform making a very hard right turn to face the room and another timed platform. Jump from the edge of it to grab another timed platform on the opposite side. While pulling up, save again. Run, making a hard turn to the left and jump onto the crates in the corner. Now you can breathe again. You've made it. Take a running jump from the crates to grab the edge of the alcove in the opposite corner. Use the switch there to lower the gate back in the cafeteria.

Safety drop to the floor, go around the orange pillar to the right and press a button to open the door leading back to the cafeteria. Before leaving the room, go to the left corner and pick up a small medipack. Leave the room and return to the cafeteria. Go around the glass to the opposite side and enter the small room with a pool. To the right of the entrance there is an alcove with a large blue button inside. Press it to drain the pool. Get in the drained pool and pull the lever there to expand a block back in the room with timed platforms.

Return to the room with timed platforms, climb onto the yellow block you've just raised, turn around to face the room and jump up to grab the edge of the bridge above. At the end of the tunnel open a floor trapdoor and save your game. You need to jump down into the cafeteria and avoid the burner just beneath the opening. The easiest way is to hop back from the opening, to run forward with Action pressed, and Lara will fall into the opening safely. Immediately kill two guards who will open fire. Take a large medipack from one of them. climb onto the cooker and take another Yellow Fuse. Press the button to open the door and leave the Cafeteria through the south door. In the corridor use the fuse to open the door and go into a long hallway. Go down onto the tracks through the opening on the left, cross the tracks diagonally to the right, press a button to open the yellow door and go in.

ROOM WITH ACID POOL: Be careful not to fall into the pool with acid as you enter this room. Take a running jump across the pool to grab the ladder on the other side. This can be tricku. As you're jumping, hold down Forward cursor key, and grab at the very last moment. Climb up the ladder and to the right around the corner, and let go above the steel floor. Climb onto the block in the corner and press the button to open a door leading out. From the edge of the block take a running jump to grab the edge just to the right of the ladder. Pull up, go through the open door and enter a huge room with bridge.

ROOM WITH BRIDGE: Go forward until you see a hole in the small fence to the left. Jump to grab the ladder, and climb down to the ground. Go right (if facing the ladder) and behind a large supporting pillar, where you'll find revolver ammo. In the south east corner, high above ground, there is a grating on the wall. Use the revolver with laser sight to shoot it and break it. Climb into that opening and kill a worker in the tunnel carrying another Copper Key. Go back into the big room, climb up the ladder, and when Lara is hanging halfway the last block, back flip, roll in mid-air and grab the edge of the bridge. Pull up, go left and use your key into the keyhole to open double gates here.

Enter carefully, grab the ladder below, climb down then to the left and drop to the floor. Take a running jump across the pool with radioactive goo, pick up some shotgun shells on the floor, jump back across the pool and climb into the crawlspace in the corner. Get down into the corridor, go right and open the trapdoor above you. Climb up into the duct with steam vents. Watch their cycles and go pass them to the other side. Open the trapdoor at the end of the tunnel and go down into another corridor. Enter the radar room to the right. Notice that one computer to the right has a cage protecting it. Take shotgun shells in the far left corner, and pull a lever in the far right corner. The door in the pool below the room with bridge will open, but also, the cage protecting the computer will also lower, and you'll be able to use the button there to open the exit of this room. Safety drop into the room with bridge.

Jump into the pool and swim through the trapdoor you've just opened. Take flares and shotgun shells from the bottom and swim through an underwater tunnel to another pool. Get out of the water, take another Silver Key from the chest, jump into a small pool there and swim under the fence back into the room with bridge. Get out of the water, go to the far left corner of the room, climb onto the blocks there and use your newely obtained key into the keyhole here to open the trapdoor above the ladders. Climb up. Before sliding down onto the tracks, use revolver with laser sight to shoot the red light on the opposite wall, a bit to the right, to open the door next to it. Slide down, watch the flyby, go right, draw your pistols and shoot the planks with Danger sign.

THE CRASHSITE: Climb onto the wrecked train and slide backwards with Action. Release grab and fall down onto the platform (Lara will lose about half her health in this fall, so make sure she has enough of it). Take a diagonal running jump onto the broken bridge to the right. Don't enter the room to the right at this point, you'll come back here later. Instead, take a diagonal running jump into the right corner behind the orange supporting pillar. Turn around, stand against the pillar and jump up to flip the switch above. Turn around, towards the waterfall. Now the gate above it is open. Take a diagonal running jump with Action into the tunnel above the waterfall. Follow the tunnel to a switch and flip it to open a door elsewhere.

Take a diagonal running jump from the top of the waterfall to the corner ledge to the left. Take another diagonal running jump to the broken bridge to the right. Jump onto the other part of the bridge. Enter the tunnel and up the stairs. The second grating (the one to the right) is half-broken. Shoot it to break it completely, enter the side room and collect a large medipack, shotgun shells and flares. Climb the rest of the stairs and enter the room with a big cage. Go around the cage and flip the switch next to the yellow door. Go through, then down on the tracks, and turn left towards the fence. To the left, on the black panel, there is a jump switch. Flip it to open the door to the right. Go through and up the stairs, to a control room. Kill the worker there and take his small medipack. Before pressing the button here, save your game, because another timed run awaits you.

Press the button holding the Look button. A trapdoor in front of a lever will raise. You have very little time to run to the lever and pull it before the trapdoor lowers again. So roll, sprint through the tunnel, go right when you enter the tunnel with tracks and slide down the broken tracks. Quickly run to the left, jump onto the (hopefully) raised platform, flip the lever quickly and move to the tile with the lever before the ledge you're standing on lowers. Take a running jump onto the black ledge hanging under the broken tracks, climb onto the tracks and then up the three blocks on the left of the broken tracks. Once up on the tracks, go right through the door you've just opened. Flip the lever here to open the door in the room with the cage.

Return to the tunnel with tracks, cross it and enter the left doorway. Then enter the cage which is now open. Go around the computer and press the button to lower the ledge below the broken tracks. Get out to the tunnel with broken tracks, go right, slide down backwards holding Action. Traverse to left or right until you find yourself right above the switch. Let go the grab and quickly press Action again to flip the switch. When Lara starts falling down and slide backwards, press Action again to make her grab the edge. Let go the grab and fall down onto the metal ledge. Safety drop to the ground, losing a bit of health.

Climb onto the train wreck between the orange supporting pillar and burner. Using your revolver with laser sight, shoot the grating on the opposite wall, a bit to the right of the waterfall. Climb into that opening and flip the switch to lower the trapdoor below the waterfall. Climb down to the ground, jump into water and use an underwater switch to flood the tunnel under the train wreck. Get out of the water, jump into the water next to the train, swim down and take Professor's Suitcase and Trapdoor Key. In a short custscene you'll see a worker in a room high above.

Get out of the water and go right, towards the ladders. In the corner behind the waterfall, you'll find revolver ammo. Use the Trapdoor Key in the keyhole between the ladders and the waterfall to lower the trapdoor above. Climb the ladders and take a diagonal running jump onto the broken bridge to the right. Enter the room and shoot the worker you saw in the cutscene. Take the Golden Key from the dead worker, pick up some flares in the far left corner, and unlock the blue door above. Use a button to open the yellow door and enter the control room.

Kill the guard and take his Quadbike card. In south-east corner you'll find a yellow crate. Move it under the opening in the ceiling (south of the central pillar), climb onto it and then into the opening above. Use a switch here to open a door elsewhere. Leave the control room and turn left, and go through the door you've just opened. Go up the ramp and quickly jump onto the second slope to the left or right, and keep jumping until the boulder passes down. Go to the top of the ramp, jump into the tunnel to the right, go up the second ramp, and quickly jump onto the second slope to the left or right. Of course, keep jumping from one slope onto the other and back, until the second boulder passes away. At the top of the ramp go left, use the switch to open the gate, and enter the storage. Go around the crates and use Quadbike card in the reader, to open the gate.

QUADBIKE RIDE: Save your game, just in case. Get on the bike and drive it up around the room to build some speed, and then up the wooden ramp. Keep driving in full speed as you jump across the tunnel with tracks and along the steep slope below the yellow door you opened much earlier (if you miss this slope and fall into the tunnel, you'll be stuck and you'll have to reload an earlier save). Drive through the orange tunnel, then up a grey ramp, taking care not to lose any speed, because you'll have to jump over a pit. In the tunnel carefully drive along the right rim of the huge pit, and park the bike after it.

Take shotgun shells from the alcove to the left, enter the tunnel ahead and kill two workers. Just to the left of the entrance there is a jump switch next to the orange pillar. If you can't locate it, cross the second tunnel, jump over the steep slope and enter the hallway where you'll find a button. Pressing it will turn on the light above the switch, and you'll be able to find it more easily. Flip that jump switch to open a door to the right of the switch.

Get on the bike and ride through the door you've just opened. When you leave the orange tunnel, turn right and drive up the ramp. In the upper tunnel park your bike. If you collected both the secret bulbs, you'll be able to enter the secret room here. If not, approach the pedestal a bit further, place Professor's Suitcase on it to reveal a map. When you pick up the Map, the exit door opens, Lara says: "Right, let's go adventuring", and at the exit of the tunnel the game finishes.


If you have both secret bulbs:

LAVA ROOM: If you have both secret bulbs, place them in receptacles on the left to open the secret room. Jump diagonally to the left to get the large medipack. Turn left to face the flame (the entrance is on your right), and jump forward to grab the edge of the rock below the flame. Traverse to the right until you can pull up onto the flat rock above the lava flow (the camera here is fixed, but even if you cannot see Lara, just keep pressing the Right cursor key and she'll shimmy to the right). Kill the pteranodon here. Grab the opposite edge of the rock and traverse to the right again.

When you reach the end of the slope, pull up, jump back, roll in mid-air and hold Action to make Lara grab the edge of the opposite slope. Traverse to the left this time. You can safely pass the first flame, it will not reach Lara. When you approach the second flame, pull up, jump back, roll in mid-air and keep Action pressed to make Lara grab the edge of the opposite slope. Traverse to the left and pull up onto the flat brown rocks. Enter the cave and fall down into the underwater passage. Swim into the big room.

WATERFALL ROOM: Swim forward towards the waterfall and take revolver clips in the far left corner (below the waterfalls). Surface and pull up onto the left metal ledge. The ledge on the right is protected with a cage, so you can't reach it at the moment. Take a diagonal running jump to grab the ladder and climb up and then to the left, to land onto the ledge under the light. From there shoot the grate under water, just below the ledge where you found revolver clips. Jump in the water and swim into that opening. Pull an underwater lever to open a door elsewhere.

Climb onto the left metal ledge and jump onto the cage above the ledge on the right. From there jump into the doorway you've just opened. Use the switch there to lower the cage protecting the second ledge. Slide into water, climb onto the metal ledge on the right and place Professor's Suitcase onto the pedestal. The Map will pop up, take it. Lara will say: "Right, let's go adventuring" and the underwater door below will open. Swim through it to finish the level.
